Why Erlangen celebrates

Beer cellars, chestnut trees and a tradition since 1755

Erlangen's Bergkirchweih began in 1755, when the Whitsun market moved to the Burgberg. Today, the festival combines historic rock-cut beer cellars with music, fairground rides and Franconian festival food. Good preparation makes the visit easier: choose your date, check beer-cellar reservations, read the current transport guidance and plan your return journey in advance.
